The major activities you'll conduct during the IPC are selecting an evaluation option, noting videotaping permissions, setting professional goals with your teachers, and adding next steps to those goals. You can do all of these things easily on Boost!
- Entering evaluation options
- Selecting videotaping permissions
- Setting professional goals
- Adding next steps to goals
Entering evaluation options
Evaluation options can be entered via the Staff Manager. Click Staff in the Resources section of the left-hand navigation toolbar to head to the Staff Manager.
Select the Targets tab, and then use the dropdown menu to assign an evaluation option to each staff member.
Once you're done, you can simply navigate away from the page; your changes are saved here automatically.
Note: If you're seeing a staff member's evaluation option from last year, you can simply click the trashcan icon alongside to remove it. Then you can add their target for this year.
Evaluation options are now pre-selected by the NYC DOE and will not sync to Advance. These must be manually entered into Boost via the above method.
Selecting videotaping permissions
Videotaping permissions can be entered via the Staff Manager. Click Staff on the left-hand navigation toolbar to head to the Staff Manager.
Select the Tags tab, and then use the dropdown to choose the videotaping permissions for that staff member.
Once you're done, you can simply navigate away from the page; your changes are saved here automatically.
Note: Video consent options will not sync to Advance. These must be manually entered into the city's system.
Setting professional goals
Note: Professional goals can be set by both teachers and administrators. Some schools choose to have staff create their own professional goals, and others enter the goals for their staff. Either way, we have you covered and the process is the same, regardless of who enters the goal.
From the dashboard, click the New Goal button in the Actions Toolbar at the top of the screen.
If you're an administrator, you'll need to change the section at the top: 'Who is this goal assigned to?' by selecting the name of the person the goal is for.
The next page will take you to Create New Goal. Enter a brief description of the goal in the description box and then any of the following additional information: goal’s focus area selection, how the topic plans to measure progress, the current level of practice, and what next steps the topic will take.
When you're done, hit Save & Finish.
Editing Goals
If you need to edit a goal, administrators should first use the Quicklist in the top right of your dashboard to filter the data by a particular user.
From here, click on the goal card on the dashboard to go to the Goal Profile page. Then click Edit Goal at the top left of the screen. Teachers can click on a goal card right from their dashboard to edit as needed.
Adding next steps to goals
When you add a goal, you'll be taken directly to the Goal Profile page. To break out a goal into small action steps, click the blue Add Next Step button on the right-side of the page under Action Plan to open this pop up window.
Describe the Next Step — this could include observing peers, collaborative planning, viewing of resources and so on. Then click Save.
Once a Next Step is completed, check the box and it'll appear as 'Finished'. Any Next Step with a Due Date will also have that information beside it.
If your Next Steps are not in the right order just click and drag to move it up or down the list.
