Note: Scoring Plans are only available if your organization sets Student Growth Objectives (SGOs).
To create your SGO, click the purple + Create New Activity button at the top of your dashboard.
Develop a Scoring Plan
Once you've created your SGO and have begun filling in the informational fields, you'll also want to establish your Scoring Plan.
In the Scoring Plan section, click on the blue Add Scoring Group button and fill in the required fields:
- Name of this specific student group
- The total amount of students included in this group
- The target number of students you'd like to reach this goal
- Enter the percentage of students achieving this goal that would results in the following SGO scores:
- Exceptional (4)
- Full (3)
- Partial (2)
- Insufficient (1)
SGO (single groups)
Most organizations only require you to to add one Scoring Group per SGO. For example:
- Name: English II
- Total # of Students: 12 students are in English II
- Target Score: I would like 9 out of the 12 students to reach the goal that I set
-
Percentage Amounts:
- Exceptional (4): If 85% of my 12 students reach the goal I receive a score of 4/4
- Full (3): If 75% of my 12 students reach the goal I receive a score of 3/4
- Partial (2): If 60% of my 12 students reach the goal I receive a score of 2/4
- Insufficient (1): If 50% of my 12 students reach the goal I receive a score of 1/4
In this simple scoring plan example, if at the end of the year a total of 11 of my 12 English II students achieved the SGO goal that I set, I will receive total SGO score of 4.
SGO (multiple scoring groups)
If you have a large number of students in your class, the 'SGO: Tiered' goal type allows you to divide them into groups, set targets for each individual group, and score the groups separately at the end of the year.
When determining your total SGO score after your End of Year Results have been entered, each group will have a particular weighted score counting towards your total SGO score.
To fill out the scoring plan for your 'SGO: Tiered' goal, simply add as many Scoring Groups as needed to account for each individual group of students within your classroom.
For example:
There is a total of 20 students in my classroom, split into two different groups: Group A and Group B
- Name: Group A
- Total # of Students: 8 students are in Group A
- Target Score: I would like 6 out of the 8 students to reach the goal that I set
-
Percentage Amounts:
- Exceptional (4): If 80% of my 12 students reach the goal I receive a score of 4/4
- Full (3): If 75% of my 12 students reach the goal I receive a score of 3/4
- Partial (2): 60 % of my 12 students reach the goal I receive a score of 2/4
- Insufficient (1): If 50% of my 12 students reach the goal I receive a score of 1/4
- Name: Group B
- Total # of Students: 12 students are in Group B
- Target Score: I would like 9 out of the 12 students to reach the goal that I set
-
Percentage Amounts:
- Exceptional (4): If 80% of my 12 students reach the goal I receive a score of 4/4
- Full (3): If 75% of my 12 students reach the goal I receive a score of 3/4
- Partial (2): If 60% of my 12 students reach the goal I receive a score of 2/4
- Insufficient (1): If 50% of my 12 students reach the goal I receive a score of 1/4
Based on the total of 20 students in my classroom, the score for Group A (consisting of 8/20 students) is weighted to account for 40% of my total SGO score. The score for Group B (consisting of 12/20 students) accounts for 60% of my total SGO score.
In this tiered scoring plan example, if at the end of the year a total of:
- 5 of my 8 Group A students achieved the SGO goal that I set, Group A receives a score of 2/4
- 11 out of my 12 Group B students achieved the SGO goal that I set, Group B receives a score of 4/4
Based upon the End of Year results added and in accordance with the weighted scores of each group, my total SGO score is 3.2.
