Coaching Cycles help structure your coaching relationships and track progress step-by-step. When you begin a cycle with a coachee, all activities are automatically associated with that cycle—and its current phase—until the cycle is marked complete.
Use the sections below to learn how to create, manage, and complete a Coaching Cycle:
Create a Coaching Cycle
Your Coaching Caseload dashboard displays which coachees are in an active cycle, and the cycle start date, in the Cycle column. To begin a new Coaching Cycle:
- Select the New Activity button.
Choose Coaching Cycle.
Set a Start Date / Time for the cycle (you can backdate this if needed).
After creating a cycle, you’ll be taken to the Coaching Cycle page, where you can view:
- An overview of the cycle's duration
- A count of activities associated with the cycle
- A breakdown of how many activities have been created for each cycle phase.
A full list of coaching activities associated with the cycle
If you log an activity with a coachee that is not related to your active cycle, you can remove the activity from the cycle under Cycle Activities.
Move through Cycle Phases
Coaching Cycles progress through a series of phases that reflect both the coaching relationship and the coaching process. Cycle Phases are tailored to your organization’s specific coaching model.
A cycle will being in the first phase of your coaching model. You can change the phase at any time using the Current Phase dropdown. New activities will be automatically linked to the selected phase. Phases can be changed forward or backward—we know coaching is not always linear.
To update the phase of a specific activity:
Go to the Cycle Activities table.
Find the activity you wish to update.
Use the dropdown in the Phase column to reassign the phase.
This flexibility allows you to adapt the cycle structure to each unique coaching relationship.
Finish a Coaching Cycle
When you're ready to close out a Coaching Cycle:
Go to the Cycle Activities table.
Click the three-dot menu at the top of the table.
Select Complete Cycle.
You can also delete a cycle or edit the dates from this menu if needed.
