Boost Sync allows you to import completed observations from Boost into Advance so you never have to type that information twice. This all takes place while you're inside of Advance and only takes a few clicks.
We recommend taking a look at our walkthrough video before you get started. This video details all of the steps and shows the process in detail.
- Step 1: Install the Boost Sync button
- Step 2: Watch our walkthrough video
- Step 3: Try syncing your form to Advance!
- ... Help! Something isn't syncing right...
Things to note:
- You must have the Boost Sync bookmark button installed on your bookmarks bar in order to sync.
- Syncing with Advance is not automated. This is to avoid accidentally creating MOTP ratings in Advance when a form isn't yet ready.
- Observations must be synced one-by-one. It is not possible to bulk upload your observations to Advance, so we recommend that you sync as you go through the academic year rather than storing them all up for the end of a semester.
Note: Boost Sync only goes in one direction—from Boost into Advance. Boost cannot pull data from Advance yet. This means that if you make any edits in Advance after you've synced, Boost will not reflect these edits.
Installing the Boost Sync bookmark button
To sync observation forms completed on Boost, you must have the Boost Sync button installed on your bookmarks bar. Just follow the instructions outlined below.
1. Make sure your bookmarks bar is showing in your browser.
2. Open the form summary page of any completed form, and click the Sync to Advance button.
3. Drag and drop the orange TeachBoost Sync button from the pop-up window to your bookmarks bar.
If you are using Boost on Microsoft Edge, you will need to add the Sync button to your favorites bar. If you run into any issues, please contact Boost Support.
Once the button is installed in your browser we're ready to get started syncing observations.
Note: You will need to install it on any computer you want to sync from—e.g. if you have both a laptop and a desktop computer, and want to sync from both devices, you'll need to install the bookmarklet on your browser in both. Similarly, if you change browsers or get a new computer, you'll need to reinstall.
Syncing an observation from Boost to Advance
-
Open both TeachBoost and Advance accounts. Make sure that the Boost sync button is installed on the bookmarks bar.
-
Open up Advance and start a new MOTP observation (see screenshot A) for the teacher whose observation you want to sync over.
-
The most important step! Click the Boost Sync button (see screenshot B)while you are on the Advance site; do not go back to Boost! A black box will appear on the Advance page in the top left-hand corner.
-
Click Sync Observation Forms to open a light gray window. Locate the observation form you want and click the small Sync button alongside it.
This will close the gray window and populate the Advance form with your information on Boost (all observation information, practice continuum selections, feedback, evaluator notes, etc). The only piece of information you need to add is the date.
- Verify that the information was imported correctly and click the Confirm button at the bottom.
Note: Any Next Steps added to your observation form will sync to the Additional Evaluator Notes section in Advance.
-
When you return to TeachBoost and refresh the page, the observation will be marked as Synced to Advance.
