Like anyone, we can understand the frustration and alarm caused by the sight of an empty page where you expected notes! To prevent the permanent loss of notes from forms, we have implemented some very robust measures to back up your notes as you type them. This means that lost notes can almost always be restored.
If you experience the loss of some notes or comments in your form, you can try the following 2 processes, but please don't hesitate to contact Boost Support for assistance if you need a hand!
- Plan A: restoring notes from our server
- Plan B: recovering notes from your browser storage
- Plan C: contact Boost Support
Plan A: restoring notes from our server
The first thing to determine is whether your notes have been backed up to our servers:
- Log out of Boost on all your devices. This is really important: If the form is open in more than one place, you risk overwriting your data
- On one device, log in to Boost and re-open the affected form
- Click on 'Tools' in the top right corner, and choose Restore to a Previous Revision
- Go through the save points in the window one-by-one to locate the fullest set of notes (on some form types you may need to click Preview these answers to view them)
- Click Restore to this Version to save the selected set of notes and Save & Exit the form when finished :)
Plan B: recovering notes from your browser storage
If there are no server save points showing in Plan A, or the save points don't represent the fullest set of notes, then it's time for Plan B: checking notes saved to your browser:
SchoolStatus Boost uses your browser's local storage to store notes if you were working in the form while you were offline. (If this is the case, it's likely that you'll have a seen a message warning you that you were working offline).
Important: You will only be able to access lost notes saved to local storage on the same device and the same browser you were working on when you lost the notes.
- Log out of Boost on all devices. This is really important: If the form is open in more than one place, you risk overwriting your data
- On one device, log in to Boost as usual and re-open the affected form
- Click the gear icon in the top right corner, and choose Recover Lost Notes
- Go through the save points in the window one-by-one to locate the fullest set of notes (on some form types you may need to click Preview these answers to view them)
- Click Restore to this Version to save the selected set of notes and Save & Exit the form when finished :)
Plan C: contact Boost Support
Running into issues with the above, or still have queries? Please don't hesitate to reach out to our Support team directly via this contact form, and we'll get back to you as soon as we can within our support hours (9am-6pm Monday-Friday, Eastern). It'd be really helpful if you could include the following in your message:
- A link to the affected form (or the title, staff, and date so we can locate it for you)
- A brief summary as best you can of what happened before you lost the notes
